Latchfield
Founder, CEO/CTO
Jul 2024 - Present
Highlights: ● Lean startup founder of https://latchfield.com - a multi-discipline technology company. ● Ideated and implemented "Vulcan," an open-source product that provides explainable AI decision-making with vastly reduced risk of hallucinations. ● Managed business operations, technology roadmap, and investor relations. ● During seed funding round, attracted volunteers to support product evolution and marketing efforts. ● Worked closely with potential customers to identify product use-cases and evolve product roadmap. ● Currently seeking investors for the next stage of growth and commercialization. Description: Leveraging my previous artificial intelligence and machine learning experience, I launched an open-source product named Vulcan that combines the consistency and explainability of rule-based decision engines with the flexibility of LLMs. The result is a developer-friendly framework that hardens AI based applications against hallucinations while improving AI reasoning and explainability and reducing inference costs. My work is now part of an ongoing (2025/2026) research collaboration with Pennsylvania State University focused on the effectiveness of rule-based LLM-hybrid decision systems compared to prompt-only LLM and agentic approaches. We intend to publish our peer-reviewed results in 2026. In addition to managing the startup business, I developed the initial codebase, documentation, website and graphics, and continuous integration and delivery automation with GitHub Actions for deployments to the Python Package Index and Cloudflare Workers.
