ColorTokens, Inc.
Principal Client Success
Feb 2020 - May 2024
Cybersecurity was a new domain for me - I thought I knew a little about it, but found out that it is so extensive! I joined ColorTokens based on my previous experience of customer success / program management and I am convinced that it was the right move as I am happy with my contributions. I have been provided the opportunity to define the Program Management practice which involves setting up team structure, processes, creating templates, SOPs, product operational guides, defining business metrics, etc. I have picked up domain and product knowledge which helped me play the role of Customer Success Manager and getting involved in the pre-sales stage as well. Handled large accounts as a customer success program manager while handling other internal responsibilities. Being a senior member of the team, had the responsibility and privilege of working on team structure, budget, strategy and initiatives for my function. These experiences add in well to my next (ad)venture in to Consulting.
Qwikcilver Solutions
Deputy General Manager
Aug 2016 - Oct 2019
It was an amazing experience in Qwikcilver - my first with a startup! No doubt the leader in the gift card platform in India and now trying to conquer more geographies backed by Pinelabs. Launched gift cards for several leading brands in India and the work I put in for a leading retailer in ANZ and working with Amadeus have been the most satisfying personally as they both turned out to be great wins for us and helped me learn a lot. QC has excellent people from varied backgrounds who are deeply committed to their craft (folks from ad agencies belting out loud Hindi songs in the middle of a work day, geeky engineers who wouldn't take their eyes from screen while talking to you, of course the typical hard-to-deal with sales guys, the young boys and girls deep in conversations in the support team - all on the same floor!!). I had to move on once I felt I have done it all - but it was an enriching experience.
I wouldn't have made it through without my manager, mentor, boss, friend - Laxmi. Those who know him know what I mean.
HCL Technologies
Technical Specialist
Mar 2015 - Jul 2016
It was HCL but it was really the old Alcatel Lucent team that I had worked with while in Wipro. My return to work post MBA. Was given a title of technical specialist and I was doing program management, metrics measurement and reporting, process re-engineering, vendor management, etc. Ever thankful for my manager Deepak who gave me this opportunity - I decided to choose this over 2 other jobs I had landed while in college since I was familiar with the work and team and the role was exactly what I was looking for.
Side note on what a MBA grad goes through, which many others of my batch tell me too: While in MBA you can't wait for it to get over as the stress gets to everyone, some job right after college where s/he is quickly convinced that MBA teaches you nothing and it was a waste of time & money. Then after a few months we realize that our own way of working and approach to everything has changed. Realization starts to dawn that MBA has changed me as a person and its not a skill that I have learnt that is required for a job. The actual change is visible only with the second job change post MBA. You start to realize that you are able to communicate, think, articulate, act differently. Maybe the third job (or later in the second job) is when you start putting everything together and start to connect back to the MBA learnings. So hang in there if you are in any of these stages - it will all make sense later and it is totally worth it.
Wipro Technologies
Project Manager
Jun 2010 - Oct 2013
The most fun team and days! Most of my team mates - managers, reportees, peers - we are all friends to this day. We played dumb charades, tennis, online games and in between managed to be the best delivery team in our vertical with several team and individual awards. Wipro was the switch for me from coding to project management. There was a juncture where I had to choose my career stream and my dear mentors - Sarat & Suma helped me decide. Worked as a tech lead and later project manager of our implementation projects for Alcatel Lucent and Ericsson. Wipro makes sure there is constant learning like no other org - had to clear the difficult C++ and coding tests, went through behavioral trainings and the full year project management training.
Tata Consultancy Services
Team Member
Oct 2005 - Jun 2010
TCS BaNCS almost needs no introduction. Was lucky to be part of the initial developers of the treasury product for nearly 5 years. Saw the product grow from a very rudimentary hardly deployment ready one to capturing the world. Being the first job out of college, learnt the corporate ways - the good and bad of it. Of course the first 2 years was an extended college time with friends made for life. Coding in Java, C++, powerbuilder, weblogic, .net; being deployed to customer location within 3 months of joining to handling treasury product deployment for more than 5 of the leading banks in India by the end of the tenure - it has been the foundational learning which I still go back to at times.
